Associations and Transgender Community WPATH

UW Health follows the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standards of care. WPATH is an interdisciplinary professional and educational organization devoted to transgender health. Their professional, supporting and student members engage in clinical and academic research to develop evidence-based medicine and strive to promote a high quality of care for transsexual, transgender and gender non-conforming individuals internationally. Their mission is to promote evidence-based care, education, research, advocacy, public policy and respect in transgender health.

Wisconsin Transgender Health Coalition

The mission of the Wisconsin Transgender Health Coalition is to create an environment and conditions in Wisconsin that provide equitable access to health and health care for transgender, intersex, nonbinary and gender nonconforming people.

AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW)

The mission of Diverse and Resilient is to achieve health equity and improve the safety and well-being of LGBTQ people and communities in Wisconsin.

Orgullo Latinx
Orgullo Latinx supports and enhances the lives of the Latinx LGBTQ+ community in Dane County by engaging and cultivating an equitable and safe environment.

OutReach LGBTQ Community Center
OutReach’s mission is a commitment to equity and quality of life for all LGBTQ+ people through community building, health and human services, and economic, social and racial justice advocacy. There are several support and discussion groups that meet as part of the OutReach community.

  • Madison Area Transgender Association (MATA): This group is open to folks who identify as transgender and/or gender nonconforming.

  • FTM/GQ: FTM/Genderqueer Peer-led, non-professional, social/support group for people who identify as FTM, genderqueer, transsexual men, drag kings, butch, intersex men, and anyone else assigned female at birth who identifies as masculine. Significant others, friends, families and allies are encouraged to attend and participate in meetings. Diversity in gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic class, race, ethnicity, religion, ability and anything else that makes up a person is welcomed.
